Return
to calm and to the” school of patience »…
Raphaëla le Gouvello is currently navigating
in conditions of weak winds, a situation that proved to be tricky on the
Atlantic. The weather forecast for the next few days is not very good,
great calm is announced.
Despite this, our navigator continues to pay a great deal of attention
to her physical preparation before she gets on the board, as she poises
herself on her two legs, facing the difficult situation as she swallows
the nautical miles that pay in front of her until Tahiti.
Tuesday 23 september, Daniel from LAC, currently 3rd in the World
Cup of climbing EN BLOC, came to talk with Raphaëla. He
is very admirative. Raphaëla is also «impressed by recent
feats accomplished by mountain fanatics»
Poor weather conditions are not stopping our windsurfer from pursuing
her feat. No question for a day’s rest: «winds
are getting a little more capricious , I have got to be patient, and must
continue to advance towards my objective…»
Wednesday 24 september, M. Josselin de ROHAN, President of the
Conseil Régional de Bretagne, came to the pc course. He
is admiring of the 50 days duration of the journey and encourages her
to continue: «All of Brittany is behind you our admiration is
great». He even predicts that Raphaëla will meet-someone
in the course of her solitary crossing: «I would be thrilled»
she responds «I have not seen a mortal soul for a long time!
Your visit and the support provided by the Bretons gives me a lot of energy
that will help me in the long days to come…»
Heat and absence of wind are having an effect on Raphaëla.
She know she will have to confront the total absence of wind. Raphaëla
le Gouvello instinctively resumes the path of «the school of patience»
The presence of Catherine CHABAUD, experienced navigator who has
at her credit two Vendée GLOBE, yesterday at the pc course, gave
cause to a moving conversation. «Paradoxically, I hear your
little voice and I would love to be at your place. You impose the admiration
of many people and from the outside the feeling is that you are mastering
this experience completely» Raphaëla’s response
is filled with joy: «You know Catherine, for me the Atlantic
represents the accomplishment of a child’s dream whereas the crossing
of the Mediteranean was significant in terms of an adolescent’s
experience. In conjunction with my team, we put all of our heart and knowledge
to prepare this Pacific crossing and make it work …»
A number of other subjects were broached between both of these extra ordinary
adventurers such as the starry sky in the Southern hemisphere, different
oceanic landscapes or how to overcome difficulties encountered in these
solitary moments. And , Raphaëla le Gouvello specifies: «people’s
support provides a great deal of comfort. This feeling of isolation is
something that I had never experienced before. No ships cross my path.
The only link I have with the world is through my IRIDIUM telephone…
»
As she awaits future messages of encouragement, Raphaëla continues
her route towards Polynesia and hopes that the wind will start blowing
again in order to reach her destination as soon as possible…
