Hair and cold noodles
Position at 5H30 (Paris) :
9° 16 S / 112° 50 W

Raphaëla worked really
hard all of Friday. "I even scared myself, I would
see myself go overboard. But in those moments I let out a
visceral scream- the Haïkido scream". I think
of Dr Justice’s Kiaiiiiiii, you know the scream that
paralyses the adversary. She awaits the effects of the depression
that is currently located in the great Sud, and is worried
and bad tempered as a result. The crisis cabinet gets together
Friday evening, I have a long conversation with Guy, we have
to find a method to reassure Raphaëla. After a long conversation
Saturday morning Raphaëla understands the necessity to
call Guy to make a detailed report of the week to come.I try
and go back to sleep, late mornings in bed are getting very
scarce…
The week announces it self difficult, probably until Thursday.
Raphaëla is thinking about the descent towards Tahiti
that could begin next Saturday or Sunday. Her friend Jean-Marc
gives a little Lunapark session : "LIsten Raphaëla,
now you are at the top of the toboggan, after that it will
go down very smoothly".
 Saturday is a "good day".The
sea is relatively calm, the wind is regular and the sun is
present. "I should be more careful and protect myself,
on my lips for example, I have a little herpes".
Ankles, ears, neck and hands are the only parts of the body
that are allowed to get sun tanned (well let’s face
it is is difficult otherwhise), "the rest of my body
is white as a rabbit that is being fattened "…
Brigitte reacts "so you have red eyes as well?".
Everyone lights at the PC in Pénestin, meanwhile I
relax…

We come back to the subject
of the glass half full half empty. "Psychologically
I see it only half full, it’s a fact that psychologically
half the crossing is made but there is still the other half
to go". Well there is always a BUT with Raphaëla…
Excessively prudent no doubt…
The drift is on the port side
from Saturday to Sunday, no other way to advance (heading
toward 240°in the equatorial bed current). Raphaëla
attempted to film the full moom, "it just does not
work"; the release works one out of two… "images
in the morning don’t work either, there is a large bar
across the photo". And then it’s the minute
of truth, "I had to return on the Ocean to see if
the physical suffering was similar to the one I underwent
on the ". IN fact she is feeling very well, she is no
longer permanently anguished. "There are a lot of positive
things".
 The lozenges are disappearing
fast which makes Raphaëla very sad, "there is
still some dried fruit, cooked dishes and concentrated milk
which I really love !". She found th little messages
we left on the ration bags in front (we really did load the
board to the limit ). "There is loads of Cantonese
rice left Little Tino listens and cries" Ah
rice is good… Raphaëla have you seen small penguins
?". "Well no this is not really the ideal place
for penguinsbut there are lots of jelly fish around!".
Her feet are starting to worry
her "especially the right foot that is jammed in
the same footstrap since the beginning of the crossing. The
sole is red and inflamed and I wonder if I don’t have
blisters really deep inside". The operation "Blisters
without limits" is immediately activated, struggling
against "mummified feet", Elastoplast inevitable…
"It was beautiful weather yesterday, so I washed
myself, and I am really pleased with myself for having found
a system to wash my hair in hot water. A bottle of water under
the bubble for one day and at night the water is 35° C".
Raphaëla is doing well,. "that makes me
happy especially since I am eating cold noodles because the
thermos is complely broken…".
