Rebellion on the Pacific:
the wind joins
the movement of the intermittents of the sea
Position at 6H00 (Paris) :
9° 12 S / 113° 48 W

"Today the weather
was lousy".
Clouds are backthere are heavy showers, the sea is dead calm.
"The wind was blowing 0 25 knots. I even had an hour
without wind ".
You’ll understand that I am thinking about the
famous law of relativity.
When Raphaëla was on the Atlantic we would uncork a bottle
of champagne the day when there was an hour of wind! Nevertheless
she has had today 7 hours of navigation and she is beginning
to feel the effects of the swell coming from the great South.
"It’s difficult to manage because I am navigating
exactly across these waves coming from the South ".
At one moment the surfboard was heeling (Raphaëla
advances on the port tack for those that follow) and "imagine,
(I close my eyes) my right foot was in the footstrap in the
middle of the board and then it landed in the water. Luckily
the wave hit the back of the board…".

The night to come appears relatively
calm, not like last night when Raphaëla only slept between
4H and 7H.
As a result her eyes were glued to the PC course yesterday
afternoon.
But who can spend a good night on Sunday evening with the
prospect of a “boat-work-sleep” weekcoming up?
"At night it is more complicated, I have 6 or 7 creams
to apply, massages, stretching, oils, I get mixed up with
all of these essential oils…".
She has to be careful otherwhise the next day can be
problematic. The second half of the crossing will be devoted
to her physical well being. In any case, Raphaëla never
takes such good care of herself as on sea…

Rémi Pelletier is a
visitor at the PC.
- "Ahhhhh; hi Rémi,how are you?".
- "Tell mei Raphaëla, have you started feeling
that you have won your betand have you changed?".
- "Well it’s true that I feel very far away
from Lima now, I am starting to think of the other sidebut
there is still a long way to go. My hair has grown and I am
hairy all over! But the real change occurs through the way
others perceive you…."
- "Raphaëla we are very proud of what you are
doing".
In reality she is mainly thinking of her feet and the Biafine
she must apply each evening to calm the inflammation.
"And when I sing I forget about the pain in the feet
…".
The board is clean of goose barnacles, "a small
jewel".

There goes for you Guy !
I don’t’ tell Raphaëla that I have learned
a terrible piece of news: our friend Laurence from 'Ifremer
contacted Cynthia Venn, an American scientist who has been
studying gooses barnacles for ten years and who explains that
the years without El Nino are their best years. And you have
guessed, if Raphaëla is making the crossing at this time,
it’s because there is no El NIno!
NO need to be alarmist, we will see …

We were cut twice during the
transmission this morning, Raphaëla is much in the middle
of nowhere that even the satellites are being lazy …
