More than one hand!
Position at 7H00 (Paris) :
11° 07 S / 129° 56 W

Last night was agitated with
frequent gybes, and drifting in all directions. Tanguy, Raphaëla’s
brother, returned to the PC :
- «Listen, Raphaëla let me know what you see
around you, around here it is all grey, cold, rainy with traffic
jams everywhere».
- «Well this morning I had a fabulous pink sun rise
with cottony like clouds – I bet it is going to get
really hot today (I’m sure she is doing this on
purpose to us !). And it’s super calm all around,
I spend most of the days in total silence (she is really
trying to annoy us now !)».
- «Apparently you sing?»
- «yes I am working my voice. Once in a while it goes
out of tune but I don’t care no one can hear…».
- «I see on the map you are really close to the Marquises…»
- «Yes I thought of stopping there but it created a
wind of panic back on ground. It would be so easy just straight
ahead Bziouuum ! Direct …».
Anne Henri is getting his fishing rods ready for the catamaran.
Raphaëla is half worried: "Ok if he fishes with
a swarm of fish and sharks around him, the catamaran better
be as far away from me as possible!».
Raphaëla wonders why there are so many air holes.
- «When the sail falls on top it’s really
tought on the tendons. If there are less than 10 knots then
it’s hell. Everyday it gets more difficult to lift my
arms…».
- «What about the elbow Raphaëla?».
She laughs, another little victory she has won.

Tanguy comes out of the Gauguin exhibition
in Paris where he saw the famous painting unknown to him.
«I’ll give you the title :Where do we come
from? Who are we? Where are we going? This should feed the
long hours you spend meditating and answer all the questions
we will be asking you when you get here!».
Fred Beauchêne arrives at the PC, he goes straight to
the map and takes measurements.
- «Hi Raphaëla, ok I calculated, you have covered
five hands and you have got one more to go. With two hands
on your wishbone it should be ok…Apparently your legs
are hurting, well I am sorry to say you could not have expected
less!».
Raphaëla laughs
- «You are right. In the morning, hands and feet
ache a little then it gets better later on in the day. I wonder
if Guy planed for anti grip on board»
- «And then I saw you reversed,what a copy cat! I agree
it is not very good for the moral but for the général
scenario it is great!»
Fred suggests that she moor a section between the back of
her harness and the board as a way to hold her when when leans
forward to relax the navigation.
- «I used this system when it was really bad weather,
it was very efficient, the tension is on both sides».
- «When it was really bad weather I would navigate sitting
down. I would worry breaking in to if I was attached».
Guywarned me in the night, «that an airplane from
the Marine Nationale intends to fly over the zone where Raphaëla
is during the day on THursday». I give her the
message this morning.
- «Thanks for letting me know I better put my clothes
back on…»
- «And you’ll look in the sky in the evening of
Thursday to Friday, may shooting stars will fall on the earth
and will be visible fromTahiti». Thanks to Jean-Yves
in Tahiti for the information!
